2009

SKYLOTEC revolutionises the market for fall-arrest devices on fixed guidance with the introduction of SPEED.

2008

SKYLOTEC goes mountain!  Presentation of the first SKYLOTEC climbing collection. The childrens’ climbing harness SC 101 GEKKO directly wins the OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD.

2007

The patented fall-arrest harness SIRRO wins the iF product design award.

2006

Acquisition of the business unit “Retten + Sichern” of the company mammutec AG.

SKYLOTEC Hungary kft. Is founded as a second production location.

2005

Change of company name to SKYLOTEC.

Production is expanded. The main warehouse and textile production are moved to Works 2 in Neuwied, Oberbieber.

2004

Acquisition of the PEWS Safety GmbH with the trademark SWISSROLL.

The business unit “Erste Hilfe und Krankentransport” is spun off and since then has been managed as its own company, ultraMEDIC.

Development of the rescue device MILAN, to this day the best high-performance descender with centrifugal brake.

Kai Rinklake ist he new managing director of the company.

Expansion of the range to include fall protection products for industry and trade.

1983

Eduard Kaufmann sells his company to Wolfgang Rinklake. The company Eduard Kaufmann GmbH is founded and the company headquarters is moved to Neuwied in Rheinland (in Germany).

Eduard Kaufmann receives a utility patent from the German Patent Office for the first stainless steel rescue basket, which reduces the danger of arcing during rescue operations. With this invention, Kaufmann supplanted all the other baskets out of use in German mines.

1973

The manufacturing capacities are expanded to include production of aluminium scoop stretchers.

1969

The product range is expanded to include safety harnesses for fire brigades and fire departments.

1962

Eduard Kaufmann was commissioned to create a bandage canister as a supplement — as a durable transportable container for first aid needs underground. A round container of metal with a lid and carrier straps was created, and it contained an emergency supply of bandages.

1958

At the request of the mining authorities in Germany, Eduard Kaufmann developed an extinguishing container with a lid. It was a galvanised sheet metal tank with a fire extinguishing lid made of glass fabric or woll as the contents.

1952

The company successfully manufactures rescue baskets for rescue from mines and safety harnesses for the mining industry. The latter were, at this time, still simple abdominal belts made of leather.

1947

Founding of the company by Eduard Kaufmann.
